From 24 to 26 June 2026, DPPA supported youth peacebuilders from China, Japan, and the ROK to participate in the 2026 Jeju Forum’s inaugural SPEAK program. The SPEAK is an international youth program that brings together young people to share their perspectives and ideas on global challenges, providing a platform for youth to present, exchange, and develop their visions for sustainable peace and the future.
This year, SPEAK was co-organized in collaboration with DPPA, WFUNA, and UNITAR CIFAL Jeju. The session organized by DPPA, “Futuring Peace in Northeast Asia: Youth, Gender, and Digital Governance”, focused on inclusive and responsible digital governance and the importance of the inclusion of youth and women’s voices in shaping the rules and norms governing AI in the digital era.
The participants highlighted how their participation in regional initiatives, including Futuring Peace in Northeast Asia, have expanded their agency in multilateral and digital governance space, including with foresight tools to inform decision-making and collaboration.
