2022 United Nations Woman Police Officer Of The Year

Chief Warrant Officer Alizéta Kabore Kinda of Burkina Faso is the 2022 United Nations Woman Police Officer of the Year.

A fierce defender of the rights of women and education for girls, Officer Kinda has a proud record of accomplishment.

Since November 2020 Officer Kinda has served as a gender focal point with the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).

She received the award for her dedication to supporting the Malian Security Forces in the Ménaka region in promoting and improving gender equality, human rights and the protection of civilians.

Officer Kinda’s efforts have resulted in more victims of sexual and gender-based violence coming forward to report their cases to local authorities and to receive medical care. She also worked to expand the number of girls in schools and reduce child marriages.

The United Nations Woman Police Officer of the Year award was established in 2011 to recognize the exceptional contributions of women police officers to UN peace operations and to promote women’s empowerment.
