An Introduction to Corrections in United Nations Peace Operations

Prison support is central to what United Nations peace operations can offer to societies emerging from violent conflict. Well-functioning, safe, secure and humane prisons enable justice to be served fairly and equally. Equipped with justice and corrections expertise, and with support from the Justice and Corrections Service (JCS), peacekeeping missions assist host countries to deliver essential justice and prison services, strengthen criminal justice systems, and facilitate rule of law reforms.
