UNIFIL this week donated UN-owned information technology (IT) and transport assets to Lebanese security entities with the aim of enhancing state authority in the Mission’s area of operation in south Lebanon.The donations included IT and transport assets to the Lebanese General Security on 24 June and IT assets to the Lebanese Armed Forces Intelligence (LAF Intel) today.This week’s assets hand-over is the last in a series of donations by UNIFIL to the General Security, LAF Intel and LAF, dating back to 2011 and 2010 respectively. Similar donations are planned for the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) soon. Since the beginning of the Strategic Dialogue process in 2010, the mechanism by which UNIFIL seeks donor support to ensure capability development of state security entities in south Lebanon, UNIFIL has donated various UN assets to the LAF.
