Yesterday, the Secretary-General of the United Nations appealed to all nations to cease conflict and join forces to fight a common enemy, the COVID-19 virus which crosses all boundaries and affects everyone, everywhere it reaches.
In the same spirit, I wish urgently to call upon all leaders to do all in their power to work cooperatively and in common purpose to fight against the spread of this virus, which already has ended the lives of so many in this very neighborhood.
I likewise call on leaders to do their utmost to protect the coherent and focused work of public institutions, free from politics, so that the full force of their effort is applied to fighting this threat.
