On 4 April 2022, MINURSO celebrated the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. The SRSG and Head of the Mission, Alexander Ivanko, read the Secretary-General message calling particularly all states to sign The Mine Ban Convention “to rid the world of the scourge of landmines once and for all”. Afterwards, the SRSG opened a photo exhibition, expected to last till 7 April, on mine action activities in MINURSO and across the world. MINURSO personnel present in the event participated in quizzes aimed to raise awareness on the dangers posed by mines and explosive remnants of war.
