Today, MINURSO celebrated the 80th anniversary of the United Nation Charter - the United Nations Day - with a parade at the Mission’s Headquarters in Laayoune attended by military and civilian colleagues. The SRSG and Head of MINURSO, Alexander Ivanko shared the Secretary-General's message on this occasion and thanked all MINURSO personnel for their continued dedication to UN goals and principles. In the same spirit, MINURSO Force Commander Major General Md. Fakhrul Ahsan honored the memory of fallen peacekeepers and commended the service of the current ones. Together, the SRSG and the Force Commander laid a wreath at the monument to MINURSO personnel who had died in the service of the noble cause of peace.
